February 26, 2007

In school on friday the 14 of february, we watched a movie on India. In the movie we learned about the varanassie and the Ganges, The taj mahal, hindu ceramonies, dehlie, and corbett national park. We took notes on all of these things. The hindues come to pray and bathe in the ganges river because it is considerd holy. Hindues throw their creamated family members in the ganges. Shiva is the hindu god of death, the hindues pray for their departed to her. The hindues also were their hair up under their turbans as a religios reason. Also while the british occupied India they built an extensive railroad tracks

The Taj Mahal is the palace were the shaw burried his wife a long time ago. In the movie the man hired a rickshaw, which is a small car that is the esiest way to get around indian cities. It is also an easy way to get to the Taj Mahal. There are also twenty thousand people that work at the Taj Mahal. The Taj Mahal’s walls have lots of precios stones in them.

There are lots of hindue ceramonies. There are ceromonies on the most popular god Krishna. Krishna was saved by his parents like baby moses of the christan religion.

Dehlie is the capital of India. It is divided into two parts, New dehlie and old Dehlie. Dehlie was the capital of muslum rule a long time ago.

Our class did not really get into corbett national park.

Crude or not Crude?

January 23, 2007

In class yesterday we had a sacratic circle on a paper that we read. It is about crude oil. Hear is a short summary. There is about 2.6 trillion undiscoverd barrels of oil in the ground. There is also oil in rocks called oil shale. But it costs so much to extract the oil from the rocks that no one does it. We are working on cars that will become more invirenment healthy. one of these cars is the minicat. That concludes my summary.

Yesterday in class we learned about crude oil in a article called “Crude awakening”. We had a Socratic circle on what we learned from the article and discussed what was in the article as well. Well discussing I learned from the article that there are about 2.6 trillion barrels of oil left in the ground. 1.7 trillion is discovered by us. The other 900 trillion barrels are undiscovered by the world. OPEC is the Organization of Petroleum Export Countries. They sell oil and effect oil prices greatly. Thats what I learned in the Socratic circle.

In Social Studies yesterday we learned about the egyptoins and took a test on the landforms in north africa. We learned that oasis’s are caused by the aquafer. This happens because the aquafer reaches the top of the land and it causes an oasis to form.
